Win an Annual Subscription to Kiwi Crate Craft Boxes!

Child Creativity Lab Announces Partnership with Kiwi Crate for Creative Reuse Photo Contest for Orange County Kids

Children encouraged to exercise their creativity by submitting photos of hands-on creations made out of old and reclaimed materials.

The Child Creativity Lab will launch a photo contest to build excitement around the creative process with children that are stuck in a culture of standardized testing, screen-based technologies, and reduced emphasis in the arts. The grand prize winner will receive an annual subscription to contest sponsor Kiwi Crate’s craft boxes that consist of materials and inspiration for 2-3 projects delivered every month in the mail.

Parents of eligible children can submit photos of art work that are hand-made by the children using salvaged materials. “With creativity skills in students declining year after year since 1990, the Child Creativity Lab is pleased to announce this partnership with Kiwi Crate that will further the overlapping missions of both organizations,” said Peter Chang, founder of the Child Creativity Lab. “This will be a fun contest that will encourage the necessary continued development of creativity with children along with the environmentally-friendly practice of reuse.”

The Child Creativity lab will promote the Creative Reuse Photo Contest to a number of organizations in the Orange County region. This includes public libraries, Boys & Girls Clubs, YMCAs, THINK Together programs, Head Start programs, art studios for children, and other after-school programs.

Photos must be in digital format and submitted electronically. Children and families will also vote on the three winners of the photo contest. Submissions and voting will be conducted at and will be open from May 1 to May 31. There will not be an entry fee, but only one photographed art work will be allowed per child. Additional details and contest rules will be posted.

The Child Creativity Lab (CCL) is a planned specialty children's museum that will nurture the creative mindset of our children in the headwinds of the busy lifestyles of working parents, the consuming technology culture of our youth, and standardized testing. The CCL vision is to inspire children to challenge their comfort levels and thereby raising their potential for personal development and contributions to society.

This not-for-profit children's museum will feature a spacious facility unique for its eclectic array of guided and self-directed creative development stations and exhibits that are safe, hands-on, purposeful, and yet fun, engaging, and similar in excitement level and entertainment value of jump houses and other "pure-play" amusement centers. These experiential activities will center on building creativity, divergent thinking, problem solving, and ability to innovate.

The Child Creativity Lab is fiscally sponsored by Charitable Ventures of Orange County, a 501(c)(3). For general information, visit
